10 months

I’ll say it again – how is it possible she is 10 months already!

This month has been a busy one developmentally: LK learned to pull up, mastered crawling, learned to wave bye-bye, and now has a 2 word vocabulary: bye-bye and da-da (we practice mama everyday, but still no luck!) I know more words are in the works because the babbling and “singing” is at an all time high – I have a feeling she is going to be a talker – poor Chris!  She loves peek -a -boo and “The Itsy-Bitsy Spider” and I finally found her tickle spot (under her little neck) and 8 times out of 10 I can get a chuckle.

LK also has “discovered” the camera and is such a ham – anytime we pull out the camera she gives us the biggest cheesiest grin and immediately crawls towards the camera. It is so cute and has made taking obscene amounts of pictures even more fun 🙂

One not so fun thing is the separation anxiety that has hit us full force….Everyone says it peaks in between 9-12 months so I know its normal, but it doesn’t make it easy.  I feel bad for the grandparents!  They want so badly for her to ditch us when they are around but she clings like a little monkey clutching our shirts like we are throwing her off the cliff when we try to pass her off.  It really isn’t any better when we are at home alone – she whines and cries if we are out of her crawling distance.  I’m hopeful that this phase is on the downhill slope!

We had 2 photo sessions this month 😉

Food wise she is a growing girl! She is such a good eater and is still throwing back all her formula, purees and increasing the finger foods she is eating with each meal.  She is a carb lover – buttered toast and noodles are a favorite although she likes almost everything we have offered.  One area she has improved greatly in is her ability to pick up the finger foods….she is actually starting to get selective about what she picks up from her tray.  It used to be random fistfuls of food shoved into her little mouth (and the floor and chair) but she is getting so much better at using her index finger and thumb to select individual pieces.  I think seeing the older kids at daycare eating has peer pressured her into this improved skill 🙂

On the sleep front she is doing well – LK is typically in bed by 6:45pm and sleeps until 6-7am.  Naps are still pretty sporadic but on a good day we can get two 1 – 1.5 hour naps.  Daycare is more active and results in less sleep but I think that is pretty common so I try not to worry about it!

We headed out of the crazy heat and had our first family vacation at the end of the month.  LK did so well on the flight – she really didn’t seem to be bothered by the pressure changes and only “cried” as she was going to sleep (like 30 seconds). It was pretty exhausting for Chris and I because we were human jungle gyms as she climbed us and checked out our surrounding seat mates. Overall, I have to say she was a rock star. She saw alot of San Fran, played with her cousins and got her little toes in the Pacific Ocean.

Her first trip to the West Coast was a success! (I’ll post a recap of our trip and half later!)

She keeps getting more fun with each passing day – I think this age is one of my favorites.  She is so inquisitive and sweet and seriously just too dang cute!

Onto Month 11!! Much Love – Christy
